Calum Hughes
Calum specialises in the legal, regulatory and policy frameworks affecting carbon capture and storage projects. He is a professionally qualified engineer and lawyer with many years experience in the project management of oilfield infrastructure projects. He has published several articles on CCS regulation and policy; sits on the IMechE’s Oil and Gas Committee as an advisor on CCS issues; and is the legal columnist for the Carbon Capture Journal.
Calum graduated in engineering before becoming an oilfield engineer with Schlumberger, testing and analysing hydrocarbon reservoirs. He moved on to the management of oil and gas development projects, both onshore and offshore, predominantly in the North Sea and Africa and has managed projects for some of the world’s largest oil companies. Calum is also qualified as a Solicitor and specialises in energy law.
