Richard Haigh
Richard specialises in the regulatory, structural and commercial issues associated with wholesale electricity markets and associated transmission arrangements. In addition Richard specialises in these issues as they arise in CCS, where a lot of his experience in the electricity industry can be brought to bear. Richard is also experienced in project management and the delivery of change.
Richard graduated in physics and started his career as a reactor physicist for the CEGB. Richard moved on to hold various positions with the National Grid Company, playing a significant role in the delivery of the forerunners of the transmission services scheme and leading several projects in the United States involving a large number of US electricity companies looking at issues spanning market design, transmission access reform, transmission planning and operations and market regulation. For the last ten years Richard has worked as an independent consultant where he has been instrumental in a number of major reforms of wholesale electricity trading and open access transmission arrangements.
